Choosing a Favorite Book: Serious Business

Have you ever had a favorite amongst the things you’ve created?

Out of all the books I’ve written, my husband’s favorite is A Whiskered Perspective. When I first read it to him and ended on the original ending, he shook his head and demanded there must be more. So I wrote more. What started out as a novella became a much larger thriller starring an adventurous black cat, his friends, and his owner Miller. Together they dealt with twists and dark dysfunction.

Then I published and moved on to other ideas, like Catnip, Toilet Paper, and Lasers and my Witchy series. Still his heart beat for Whiskered; he was a little annoyed I didn’t just stick with Pumpkin the cat. I told him there might be more in the future, and he keeps asking when’s the next installment is coming out.

One of my beta reader’s favorites is Witchy: Book 3. She loved how the time travel interwove with magick and wrapped up the trilogy. She liked how I ended things and also asked for more.

For me, I’d have to say it’s a tie between Twist in the Void, Witchy: Book 3, A Whiskered Perspective, and Catnip, Toilet Paper, and Lasers. Really I like all my books; they each hold a part of me, even when I sometimes unpublish one (as I did with Black Cat Scribbles).

What am I writing next? I’m currently working on the next installment of Catnip, Toilet Paper, and Lasers, and hope to wrap it up for an end-of-summer release. Anyone looking forward to more hilarious cat poetry?
