Teacher Prep

I can see the finish line with converting my second class to online project. I have 1 lecture left to record, then make up the rest of my testing material in my online platform for the class.

Originally I didn’t know if I was going to make it. I had spent from the beginning of quarantine to June to get one course completely finished, minus a lab recording here and there. Then I took a breather before starting the next course. I really miss lecturing in front of my students—it’s hard to talk about some rad bone fracture pictures and the computer doesn’t get excited about it.

I wonder how different the upcoming school year will be. It will be interesting to see how the high school tries to mesh face to face with online students. It’s actually not that bad to do, work-wise, but then again I have been prepping all summer to get my recordings done, for high school and online courses. I can’t imagine all the stress of doing that much work on the fly in the heat of the moment.

Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing against doing it as you go (I’ve done that before too), and I may have to go that if I pick up another class; I just prefer having as much done as possible before the school year starts. I am definitely a prepper lol.

So far since quarantine started I have made over 80 recordings for courses, with a few more to go. I use Icecream Screen Recorder and a Logitech microphone. The screen recorder software is awesome and lets you draw on your PC screen—uber handy when trying to explain a concept. The free version has a limit on how much you record, but if you pay for the pro, you have a lifetime license, unlimited recording time, and you can put it on as many computers as you want.

So currently I have most of my ducks in a row, and am waiting to hear back if I picked up some other classes so I can start prepping those.

Whatever your job looks like, I hope you are able to strategize what works best for you and enjoy your down time.

Until next time, dear readers.
